C1 CEFR I can understand extended speech even when it is not clearly structured and when relationships are only implied and not signalled explicitly. I can understand television programmes and films without too much effort. I can understand long and complex factual and literary texts, appreciating distinctions of style. I can understand specialised articles and longer technical instructions, even when they do not relate to my field. I can express myself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. I can use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes. I can formulate ideas and opinions with precision and relate my contribution skilfully to those of other speakers I can present clear, detailed descriptions of complex subjects integrating sub-themes, developing particular points and rounding off with an appropriate conclusion I can express myself in clear, well-structured text, expressing points of view at some length. C1+ French Studies I am trained to listen and understand, in detail, audio and video files lasting 10-15 mins. At the end of the semester, I am able to summarise a video file (eg. extracted from French speaking TV news, from fiction). I am working on long and complex texts (1000-2000 words) in various styles (such as literature, news, scientific works). I am improving my expository and argumentation skills and can present a 15 min argument about social or scientific topics after 1 hour preparation. I am improving my expository and argumentation skills to present for 15 mins (after a 1 hour preparation) about social or scientific topics, for the final exam.         I am developing advanced analytical, expository and argumentative skills. At the end of the semester, I can compose a balanced and argumentative synthesis (300-500 words) about a range of several documents on scientific and social topics.
C1 French Studies I am working on 10 min audio and video files (such as TV and radio news, fiction) to extract the relevant information and summarise it (300-400 word). I can read and understand long and complex texts (1000-2000 words). I can lead a 20 min presentation and interaction about social or scientific topics from a selection of various documents, as part of the final exam. I am able to present a selection of news in a press review style. At the end of the semester, I am able to develop expository and argumentation skills in the context of oral presentation. I am developing advanced analytical, expository and argumentative skills in order to compose a balanced and argumentative essay (300-500 words) about a range of several documents on scientific and social topics, as a part of the final exam.
