Program details

This unit allows students to undertake a 2-week course of  music study at Monash Prato centre studying with School of Music staff Monash and European artists with regular workshops from visiting artists.

This two-week Jazz and Popular Music workshop offers courses covering a wide range of subjects and a diverse ensemble program. Along with visiting artists and Monash staff, the workshops will include daily interaction with musicians from around the world, making this a unique opportunity to gain a global perspective of music.

This unit also introduces students to the study of music in different cultural contexts. Culturally-specific approaches to performance, research and composition will be investigated in their environments. The focus of the unit will be a reflective approach to the integration of diverse traditions of music into individual creative and research activity.


Deposit:$500 deposit is due at time of application
Total Program fee:$4200

All program fees are paid to Reho Study tours (Our Travel Service Provider). Payment process outlined in the MAP application portal.

*Please note that the deposit is non-refundable except in the case that your application is not successful.

Included in the program fee:

  • International flights and airport transfers in country
  • Accommodation (twin share) apartment
  • Welcome and farewell dinner
  • Day trip to Rome, entrance fees to the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chaple and Coliseum
  • Day trip to Sienna/San Gimigano with English speaking guide

Not included in the program fee:

  • Visas (if required)
  • Spending money and meals
  • Tuition fees. Monash students will be charged fees according to their funding status.
