Diversity and Democracy in Media, Culture and Communications

6th & 7th October 2021

In 2021, Creative Directions examines the theme of diversity and democracy in our media, communications and cultural sectors. We aim to ask questions about whether we can build a more representative and more just society on the other side of this pandemic. Diverse voices and viewpoints will explore topics examining hope for the future in a hotter world, public infrastructure in the digital public sphere, the role of technology in culture, and the possibility of decolonising elite institutions and media discourses. We hope to stimulate intelligent conversation, tackle difficult issues, and involve our students and local community in a vibrant discussion in these historic times.

Run by the School of Media, Film and Journalism, Creative Directions is an annual festival of ideas and industry know-how exploring critical issues shaping the contemporary media, cultural and communications industries. #CreativeDirections.
