As part of the continued strengthening collaboration between the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) and the Faculty of Arts, Professor Pushpa Trivedi, Head of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences visited the Faculty from 12-16 February 2018. She was one of a 17-member delegation visiting Monash University from the IITB-Monash Research Academy.

Professor Trivedi, a Professor of Economics at IITB, spent two days at the Faculty, meeting with Academic staff to discuss areas of possible research collaboration, as well as potential project areas for the joint PhD program run out of the IITB-Monash Research Academy located on the IITB campus, Powai.

The joint PhD program between Monash and IIT Bombay is a unique global research partnership formed in 2008. It is administered through the IITB-Monash Research Academy and delivers innovative solutions through collaborative, multi-disciplinary research projects across areas of strategic importance to industry and to Australian and Indian society. The Faculty of Arts currently has 11 joint PhD students enrolled at the Academy.

Of the visit, Dr Mridula Nath Chakraborty said, “It was a pleasure hosting Professor Trivedi and to explore further the exciting possibilities of collaborative research that raise awareness about, and suggest solutions for, our collective, contemporary society. We look forward to offering many more projects under the joint PhD program and growing our institutional relationship.”
