Master of Public Policy
"My favourite thing about online learning is the flexibility and accessibility. I have access to everything I need online - my teachers, my readings and so much more. I also love the quiet. As much as I love talking to my peers and friends in Zoom meetings, I concentrate and knuckle down more when I'm alone and have control over my learning."
Bachelor of Arts
"Online learning has allowed me to work according to a personal schedule. I can be a lot more flexible with my routine and this gives me time to prioritise my assignments, but also make time for extracurriculars."
Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts
"One of my favourite units this semester has been 'Crime, Risk and Security' where we have had a new assessment task created for us. It is an auto-ethnographic blog where we document the ways that coronavirus has impacted on our lives and we relate this to the theories that we are learning about."
Jude Corbet O'Rourke
Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics and Diploma of Languages
“I love studying online because it encourages flexibility and self-directed learning. It allows me to consolidate lecture information more easily, as I can go over difficult topics and ideas multiple times, all while learning at my own pace. Being able to learn online also means that I can plan really effective breaks into my day, giving me some time to myself to do the things that I enjoy most.”
Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Global Studies
“Zoom keeps me connected with my friends and tutors so I feel like I am part of a community. The best part about learning online is the time flexibility. Not having to travel makes it so much easier to attend all my classes."
Bachelor of Arts/Master of Public Policy
“Online learning has been an adjustment for me but I'm really enjoying it. I love how I can engage with my uni content in a structured but flexible manner. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything."
Master of International Relations
“The thing I find advantageous about studying online is the ability to step back, plan and listen with near anonymity during workshops - a space to take your time to understand."
Journalism/Film and Screen Studies
International student - USA
“The best part about my virtual learning experience is the helping hands from all of my lecturers. Although we do not meet face to face, I am always able to stay in touch."
Bachelor of Arts/Master of International Relations
“One of my favourite things about studying online is the flexibility it provides. My favourite class so far is 'Understanding Modern China' particularly because of my lecturer, Professor Gloria Davies. She continues to deliver her lectures with humour and passion. I also immensely appreciate my tutor Dr Jonathan Benney's weekly to-do lists as they help me stay on track with the class.”
Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics
“Studying online has at times been challenging, but invaluable too. The best part is being able to learn at my own pace and review course materials repeatedly at any time of the day. One of my highlights this semester is our dress-up themed Zooms, proving uni can be fun and not all about the grind!”
Master of Strategic Communications Management
International student - India
"Faculty members have been putting in great effort to deliver a quality learning experience. It’s always exciting to work on the creative weekly activities, which also ensure interaction with peers on the forums."
Master of Journalism
"I'm really enjoying my 'Designing Research' unit which involves video lessons, academic readings and a discussion forum. Attending activities via video conferencing is a valuable way to connect with my peers."
S M Tareque Sultan
Master of International Development Practice
International student - Bangladesh
“I have more freedom and flexibility to communicate with the unit coordinators via email, phone call and video conferencing."
Bachelor of Education (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts
"I find online learning platforms very valuable. Something I found particularly useful about the functions on Zoom was the option to create breakout rooms. This function allowed the host to split up the class into smaller groups for a dedicated amount of time and we could then hold more in-depth discussions and language practice."
