This semester, PAL is raising funds for the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF).

AIEF aims to ease the transition from secondary school to further study or employment. They are concerned for Indigenous children in financial need.

Statistically, attrition rates for Indigenous students in Australia are much higher than those of non-Indigenous students. AIEF is a fantastic charitable organisation that endeavours to reduce this gap.

AIEF has established two main programs- the AIEF Scholarship Program and the AIEF Pathways Program. These programs provide scholarships to Indigenous students, allowing them to pursue education or employment.
According to the ABS, 59.4% of Indigenous students completed Year 12 in 2014.
In the same year, “93% of AIEF Alumni made or continued a successful transition to further studies or employment”.

The PAL Program is centred on educational equality and making a successful transition from secondary school into post-school life. AIEF shares these goals, making it a wonderful charity to support wholeheartedly.

PAL will be collecting donations at a number of events this semester, such as the upcoming movie night so be sure to come along to support this great cause!
