Blockchain education and training
Monash Blockchain Technology Centre is on the blockchain innovation journey. Blockchain is a transformational technology that will revolutionise our economic and social systems.
Education in blockchain
The Centre offers several blockchain units in the Master of Cybersecurity. This degree equips students with in-depth best practice techniques and principles for designing, analysing, implementing and managing cybersecurity systems and communication networks.
The Centre also aims to introduce relevant blockchain topics into other learning programs.

Blockchain training courses
The Centre provides specialised short courses. The first course to be offered will be for managers and C-suite members. This course is suitable for executive people in different sectors of industry who may want to incorporate blockchain into their business.
The Centre also offers public lectures to engage the local community, alumni and students, and share knowledge.

Micro-credential: Applications of Blockchain
Blockchain applications are not just limited to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, but also extended to different interdisciplinary sectors. This microcredential is for students to develop basic knowledge of blockchain technology and how they can be used in real-world scenarios such as payment systems or supply-chain management.
Through this microcredential you will develop an understanding of different blockchain systems, with a focus on the state-of-the-art knowledge for blockchain technologies including consensus, privacy-preserving protocols and smart contracts which are being rapidly adopted across a range of different industries.
Monash Blockchain Hackathon 2021
The Monash Blockchain Hackathon 2021, jointly organised by Monash Blockchain Technology Centre and Algorand Foundation, drew to a close in August. With over 90 participants from around the world, the finale saw six teams selected for the final judging round. The overarching theme was ‘Blockchain for social good’ with subtopics of education, building, energy and digital health.
The winning team chose education and its project was called 'Better learning for evolving brains’. It was a blockchain-based all-in-one platform for schools which enabled better tracking of performance to incentivise teachers to share resources and encourage students to engage and improve their work. It also aimed to promote fairer wages for teachers in developing countries.
Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who participated in the hackathon this year!
