Winners of the 2020 Future Global Leaders Award

Emma Catherine Tibballs

Bachelor of Commerce

Emma is focusing her studies in Accounting and Behavioural Commerce. She is already an outstanding social change maker whose formidable achievements on and off-campus include helping to set the strategic direction of the prestigious Beta Alpha Psi Chapter; increasing sponsorship to the Monash Accounting Students’ Association; and being selected by McKinsey & Company as one of 23 young leaders to participate in its Women in Leadership program.

Simone Freda Pianko

Bachelor of Commerce /
Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honours)

Through her double degree in Commerce and Engineering, Simone is specialising in Environmental Engineering. She founded the very popular Monash BorrowCup initiative on our Clayton campus. BorrowCup’s vision is to rid Monash University of disposable coffee cups. In just two years, under Simone’s leadership, the initiative has grown from four volunteers to more than 150; BorrowCups are at nine cafes, and being used 1400 times per week. Importantly they are also returned 95 per cent of the time!

Our Future Global Leaders, Emma Tibballs and Simone Pianko talk about the change makers who have inspired them and their motivations for making a difference in the world.
