Interested in a PhD in Health Economics?

Our Centre delivers a comprehensive PhD program. You will complete independent research under the expert supervision of at least two of our research-active academics.

Monash Business School PhD programs have a coursework component, designed to assist you during the early stages of your research. Professional development opportunities are also available.

Upon completion of your PhD, you are required to submit a thesis that offers a significant contribution to knowledge in your chosen area.

We have strong links with the Department of Economics and Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics within Monash Business School, as well as the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine.

How to Apply

  1. Check your eligibility to apply. You will need to meet the following admission criteria and have high English language proficiency.
  2. Check the application closing dates
    The closing dates for international and domestic students are different and outlined in the table below.

  4. Email an expression of interest to CHE HDR enquiries at least 6 weeks before the application closing date
    To submit an EOI, the following information is required:
    • Title, Given Name and Family Name
    • Email address
    • Evidence that English language requirements have been met
    • Copy of all completed university-level academic transcripts, degree certificates and grading scales (official English language translation is required where studies were completed in a language other than English)
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Research proposal (one page)
  5. The EOI will be assessed by the Faculty. Please note, at least 4 weeks are required for an initial assessment to be performed.
  6. The Faculty will advise if you have met the criteria for undertaking a PhD and  that the Academic Unit has the necessary facilities, resources and academic supervision to support your project. Where this is the case, prospective candidates will be invited to submit a formal application for course admission via the Monash University online system. Please note, an invitation to make a formal application does not guarantee admission.
