Examination Feedback Procedure

Purpose

This procedure outlines the process for the provision of feedback to students on examination performance.

Procedure

1. Scope and Principles
This procedure relates to examinations conducted by the Faculty of Business and Economics and should be read in conjunction with the Faculty Assessment Policy.

2. Feedback on Examination Performance
Stage 1 – Unit Summary Feedback
Summary examination feedback will be provided by release date of official results. This may take the form of, for example, a short report, a group briefing session or a video. The format for summary examination feedback is at the discretion of the Unit’s Chief Examiner. Details of how to access this feedback will be provided by the Chief Examiner (or nominee).

Stage 2 – Request to View Examination Script
Students may request an opportunity to view their examination script. Students must submit an examination script viewing request within 2 working days of the release of the official results for that teaching period.

Details of the examination script viewing arrangements for each campus are outlined here.

Stage 3 – Written Request for Individual Feedback
If, after viewing their examination script and taking advantage of the summary feedback for the Unit, students require further feedback about their examination performance, they must submit a written request to the Chief Examiner using the online form. This request must be submitted no later than 10 working days after viewing the examination script. The request must include:
1.    Confirmation that the student has availed him/herself of all the feedback opportunities outlined above.
2.    An explanation of the reason the student believes she/he requires further feedback. Where the student’s request is non-specific or lacking in substance, the Chief Examiner (or nominee) may respond by referring the student to the general feedback provided.

All requests for written individual feedback must be submitted using the online form found here.
