This unit may count as a capstone or an elective unit in your undergraduate or postgraduate degree

This future-oriented, intensive unit is offered in collaboration with Monash Business School, Sydney-based research firm Incept Labs and professional body IPA. Students will be provided an interdisciplinary space to undertake a facilitated Sustainable Futures Challenge through a 10-day intensive program, that aims to develop essential skills to meet future global social, economic and environmental challenges.

A focus is placed on exploring real-world sustainability and public governance challenges. In multidisciplinary teams, students compete against a cohort of their peers, working together with a client, undertaking their own independent research, creating their own stakeholder analyses, interrogating scenarios and alternatives, and deriving holistic solutions against real-world, complex sustainability problems.

This unit focuses on developing skills including self-management, leadership, analytical and critical mindsets, engaging with social, economic and environmental development issues and research, integrated problem solving, dealing with uncertainty, policy critique and development, communication and coordination.
