Monash scholarships offered to fill demand for behavioural experts

In September 2017 Monash University and government agency partners announced that, for the first time in Australia, 18 applied behaviour change PhD scholarships would be offered through the Monash Graduate Research Industry Partnership program (GRIP).

The Behaviour Change GRIP seeks to meet strong demand for behavioural experts who are able to straddle the worlds of academia and government.

In fact, demand for behavioural experts is growing worldwide as more and more government and industry organisations recognise that their programs are more likely to succeed if they are underpinned by an understanding of human behaviour - and how to influence it.

The GRIP will bring leading government agency partners together with talented PhD candidates to co-design and deliver new interdisciplinary behaviour change approaches to help solve public policy issues.

GRIP students select projects that reflect their research interests and gain the opportunity to work with some of Monash University's leading academics from BehaviourWorks Australia and the Faculties of Arts, Law, Business and Economics, as well as the Monash University Accident Research Centre and Monash Sustainable Development Institute.

The first round of offers was made in November 2017, with the second round closing on 2 January 2018. Please note, however, that candidates are being interviewed progressively, and places may fill before January.
