2021 Monash Global Executive MBA Sponsorships for Monash University Alumni

“The GEMBA experience has changed my perspective on business and management. I have a much more mature and practical understanding of leadership now, and it has already had a significant impact on how I go about my work”, says Dr Leanne Hawkey of the Australian Translational Medicinal Chemistry Faculty at Monash University.

“I have been working in finance for over a decade following my Monash undergraduate degree in business studies and qualifying as an accountant”, Simon Bianucci notes. “As I engage with senior executives in other areas within and beyond my business, I realise that I need to adapt my approach to ensure that I am presenting and communicating information more appropriately – this is not about being factually correct, but about being relevant and delivering value at every opportunity”.

Leanne and Simon, as well as their classmate Dharmendra Yadav, are recipients of Monash University Alumni sponsorships for the 2020 Global Executive MBA program at Monash Business School. They are currently on the part-time 15-month intensive program, designed specifically for managers in a wide range of sectors with a minimum of 10 years’ experience and who are seeking greater responsibility and executive-level positions.

“One of the real advantages of the GEMBA program is the opportunity to work alongside forty of my peers from very different industries and professions to tackle challenging questions and problems”, says Dharm Yadav, Master of Information Management Systems, formerly Associate Partner at IBM and now director at an investment and technology firm.

Professor Patrick Butler, Director GEMBA, emphasised the applied strategy projects that are central to the learning experience: “At this level, ambitious professionals learn best in a practice-based environment. We undertake live consulting projects with our business partners in advanced manufacturing, life sciences and digital transformation; this kind of involvement has a profound impact on our executive capability and presence”.

The Monash GEMBA program involves study with the leading business schools in Europe, Asia and North America: INSEAD, China-Europe International Business School, and NYU Stern School of Business.
