- Head of Strategy & Growth, Dragonfly Technologies
- "The Monash MBA allowed me to believe in myself and accelerate my career growth to an executive leadership team position within six months of completing the MBA."
The Monash MBA gave me the skills and confidence to transition to a leadership role soon after completing my studies. For me, there were two things in particular that really set the Monash MBA apart: the MBA Labs – real-life consulting projects focused on strategy, technology and entrepreneurship – and the MBA Career Advancement Program.
Before I started the Monash MBA, I was working in a sales management role at a large telecommunications company. I felt I was only exposed to one part of the business. I knew I wanted to broaden my career beyond sales, but I needed the tools and confidence to make the move.
The Monash MBA is not just book learning; it’s forward-thinking and hands-on. The focus on putting learning into practice with real clients throughout the program meant I really absorbed the information and was able to use it in my work right away. I also developed life-time connections with my cohort through this team work.
The Career Advancement Program (CAP) led me to seriously consider my long-term career development. There was a moment where I really had to pause, reflect, and make a conscious decision to make a change. The careers team supported me and, through engaging with CAP, I gained the confidence to start looking for the kind of job I truly wanted. I was able to transition to a leadership role soon after completing my studies.
I now work at Dragonfly Technologies, a cyber-security company, as Head of Strategy and Growth and I continue to use the tools I learnt in the MBA in my current role. We’re launching new products into market and I’m able to analyse the value proposition and use the high-level thinking I learnt in the MBA Labs.
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented new challenges, but with the tools I learnt in the MBA I found I had the skills to change focus and make the best of the situation. COVID has changed the way people work – more people are working from home than ever before – and I can help businesses keep their systems secure by developing client-led solutions.
I’m grateful to the Monash MBA for giving me the confidence to step out of my career comfort zone. It opened my eyes to new areas of business, namely leadership and strategy. The Monash MBA allowed me to believe in myself and accelerate my career growth to an executive leadership team position within six months of completing the MBA.
