Monash Business School welcomes Biniyam Yigletu; recipient of the The Monash MBA Scholarship for Emerging Economies
We are delighted to welcome Biniyam Yigletu to Monash University as the 2020 recipient of The Monash MBA Scholarship for Emerging Economies. Designed to support the development of students from one of the UN's list of least-developed economies, the scholarship is awarded to a student committed to advancing their nation's prosperity. Biniyam comes from a poor farming family in rural Ethiopia. Following his completion of a degree in civil engineering, he has been working as a senior analyst with the Ethiopian Agriculture Transformation Agency. The ATA promotes the adoption of improved technologies by smallholder farmers and increased investment in rural infrastructure such as irrigation and improved watershed management. Binyam will return to Ethiopia to lead further agricultural initiatives in the future. Biniyam has just commenced the two-year MBA program. His classmates comprise an exceptionally diverse cohort from twenty different countries, each of whom brings capability, drive and business experience. This Monash class will make a material impact on their organisations, their communities and society.
