Ranjit Ajit Singh
Ranjit Singh is a Senior Advisor at the Monash Center of Financial Studies. He is an experienced international policy maker and former academic with 25 years experience in capital market development, policy and regulation with a focus towards Emerging Market countries and Asia. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) that oversees 95 percent of global capital markets and served as Chair of its largest committee on Growth and Emerging Markets. He was one of IOSCO's representatives on the Financial Stability Board (FSB) and has completed reports for the FSB and the G20. He was one of the authors of the Objectives and Principles of Securities Regulation that is used as a core standard for securities markets. He has also been Chairman of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum and is a former Executive Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia.
Ranjit is also a strategic consultant on international capital markets. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the London based International Valuation Standards Council; a securities market expert for the International Monetary Fund; on the International Advisory Boards for capital markets of several countries; member of the Advisory Board of the Salzburg Finance Forum; a member of the Leadership Council of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (M) and sits on several other Boards.
Ranjit taught finance at the The University of Melbourne for several years. He has spoken at major global events and written articles and contributed chapters to books. He has also participated in numerous discourses around the world including for His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales on Accounting for Sustainability and has co-chaired the Salzburg Forum on Global Finance. He has research interests in the areas of capital markets, regulation, governance, and sustainable finance. He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree with Honours and a Master of Economics in Finance from Monash University and was conferred the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa by Monash University. He is a professionally qualified accountant and Fellow of CPA Australia and has been a member for 30 years.
