About

Monash University launched Monforma in 2009, aiming to enrich the discussion among academics, as well as promote and initiate research opportunities within the Management Accounting discipline. Monforma is hosted by the Department of Accounting at Monash University. The next Monforma conference will be held in Melbourne on 22-23 November 2018.

Monforma seeks to offer well-established and early career researchers the opportunity to present and receive feedback on their work in a constructive environment. It also strives to create conditions to foster the development of network opportunities among peers. Conference attendees are academics from Australian and overseas universities.

Monforma partners

Since 2010 the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) have partnered with Monash University to present Monforma.

CIMA is the world’s leading professional body of management accountants and also the world’s largest. Their aim is to help “individuals and businesses to succeed by harnessing the full power of management accounting."

CIMA established in 2012 the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation together with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). In 2017, CIMA and AICPA formed the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and, together, they represent more than 650,000 members and students in management and public accounting.

Journal of Management Accounting Research

The Journal of Management Accounting Research (JMAR) is a prestigious leading journal published by the Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association. JMAR’s aim “is to contribute to improving the theory and practice of management accounting by promoting high-quality applied and theoretical research.”

JMAR’s primary audience is the membership of the Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association and other individuals interested in management accounting.
