Getting the most out of attending Monash University's upcoming Open Day is important for course choice, according to our Monash Business School student ambassadors.

They recommend those coming to Open Day to speak to as many University staff and students as possible and try and learn as much as you can about the Business School, the courses offered and student life.

"The staff and students have a wealth of experience and knowledge, which will give prospective students a holistic understanding of what is on offer," they said.

Lauren Chen, Lauren Simpson, Kalidu Wijesundara and Cynthia Vu are just four of the 50 Business School student ambassadors who will be on hand across Clayton, Caulfield and Peninsula campuses to give prospective students an insight into student life next weekend.

You can never have too much information

Bachelor of Business student Lauren Simpson said talking to course advisers on Open Day allowed her to fully understand what subjects a business degree included.

"It may sound silly but when reading course guides each university pretty much sounds the same, so hearing about what I would actually be undertaking at university was useful," Lauren said.

It was the personal insights from the students I spoke to, and the assistance from the staff about the course content that made my choice to study at Monash easy.

Fourth year student Lauren Chen said she had found attending Open Day had given her a better understanding of the course she needed to do to reach her career goal.

"I have always wanted to work in event management so I attended a couple of Open Days before choosing to do my degree at Monash Business School," Lauren said.

"The course advisers gave me great insight into what subjects I could do based on my interests. I was also able to find out about the many practical opportunities, such as internships, to help gain valuable experience."

Internships, student exchange and more

Kalidu, currently in his third year of his double degree of Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws said Open Day demonstrated the numerous opportunities Monash University provided its students in terms of student life/experience and avenues of personal and professional development.

"Attending Open Day made me realise the depth and breadth of the courses offered at Monash. By finding out about the diverse courses offered I was able to choose a degree that met my needs," Kalidu said.

For second year student Cynthia Open Day is the perfect opportunity for prospective students to gain a deeper insight into the course they are considering.

"If you are interested in programs such as the exchange programs or placements Monash offers, then make sure you ask about them too!"
