Monash Business School’s Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability, together with its Centre for Global Business, are pleased to host an evening with Dr Petia Topalova, Deputy Division Chief, World Economic Studies Division of the Research Department at the IMF to discuss issues facing the global economy based on the recently launched issue of the IMF’s flagship publication, World Economic Outlook October 2017.

About the speaker
Petia Topalova is a Senior Economist in the World Economic Studies Division of the IMF's Research Department. She is a co-author of the IMF’s October 2017 World Economic Outlook, and the lead author of the chapter on the macroeconomic effects of weather shocks and climate change on low-income countries.
Dr Topalova previously worked in the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department, and has published extensively on development and international trade issues. She has taught at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT.
