2019 Tony Palmer Award in Marketing awarded to Chloe Wilde
Growing up in the small Victorian regional town of Maffra, Chloe Wilde dreamed of seeing her creative marketing ideas come to life on television screens and in newspapers.
After completing a double degree (Bachelor of Arts and Business with majors in International Relations and Marketing) at Monash University, she landed her ‘dream job’ as an agency account manager with The Brand Agency.
Now her talents have been rewarded with Monash Business School’s Department of Marketing 2019 Tony Palmer Award in Marketing, which aims to recognise emerging talent in the marketing field.
Now in its 10th year, the Award is a gift from Tony Palmer, a Monash Marketing alumnus and Co-Founder and CEO, TropicSport (a reef-friendly mineral sunscreen and skincare line).
Award recipients receive 12 months of mentoring from Mr Palmer; a cash prize and membership to the Australian Marketing Association the peak professional body for marketing practitioners.
The Prize’s adjudication panellists praised Chloe’s “mature, single-minded marketing career focus” in awarding her the prestigious marketing award.
Rodney Hannington, Chairman of the Tony Palmer Award Panel and Monash Marketing Industry Advisory Board and Non-Executive Independent Director, said the panel had been impressed by Chloe’s clear career plan to move into a senior agency strategy role.
“Chloe’s mature single-minded marketing career focus and the experience she has gained in only six months in her agency account manager role was most evident in her responses and a clear differentiator to the other candidates,” he said.
“We believe that she will benefit immensely from Tony’s mentoring. Chloe is a worthy recipient and a great role model.”
Ms Wilde said she was “incredibly honoured”.
“The opportunity to be mentored by Tony will allow me to see first-hand what it takes to succeed in such a competitive industry,” she said.
“But it's the lessons he learned along the way that intrigue me most. I want to know how I can pursue my dreams without compromising on my values.”
