During NAIDOC Week 2022, Monash Business School’s Senior Lecturer, Master of Indigenous Business Leadership, Katrina Johnson has shared a deeply personal story of her grandparents’ powerful legacy that shaped generations of their family to follow.

Ms Johnson, a Gooreng Gooreng woman, was raised on her traditional lands and writes about her grandparents’ perseverance in ensuring their eight children were all educated, after only receiving limited schooling themselves.

“My grandparents along with so many of our mob marched on the frontline for our rights in their homes and communities long before we started campaigning publicly,” Ms Johnson said.

“I am blessed to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2022 knowing that I walk in the steps of my ancestors, Elders, those who have gone before me and those around me.”

She described her pride teaching Monash Business School’s Master of Indigenous Business Leadership (MOIBL), describing it as “a trailblazing program empowering our business leaders across the nation to Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! in the boardroom, across community, in the marketplace and on global stages”.
