Professor Michelle Russell

Industry Fellow, Executive Education

Professor Michelle Russell

Michelle has 25 years' business experience designing and implementing leadership development and culture change programs with leading organisations across a global landscape: in ANZ, the UK and across Europe, the Gulf Region, and the Americas. She draws upon rich and diverse career experience, which is a blend of senior, internal-facing Organisation and Executive Development roles, and externally, in senior consulting roles for GE Healthcare Partners and Accenture.

American born and bred (and also proudly Australian), Michelle recently returned to Australia after eight years in Europe. From Paris, she was Global Solution Manager for GE Healthcare’s Culture and Leadership portfolio, where she developed and delivered solutions for clients in the US, UK, Northern Europe and the Middle East. She was also Director of Consulting for Northern Europe, and was on the Faculty of the NHS Leadership Academy in the UK until her return to Australia. She developed an acclaimed body of work on compassionate leadership for the NHS, which was published and is still referenced across the NHS as a ‘go to’ body of work on compassion in practice.

She facilitates a variety of subjects that support organisational and personal transformation: shaping and building cultures of accountability; leadership and management systems; executive presence and platform skills; emotional intelligence and mindfulness; employee engagement; leader as coach; talent management.

In her Industry Fellow role, she works with organisations to design and implement bespoke, practical programs that embrace the workplace disruptions businesses face today, and works hand-in-hand with clients to build their individual and organizational capability to future-proof their businesses.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from CSU, Sacramento, with minors in French and German, and she is fluent in French. She has also studied at the HEC at the Université de Montréal, Canada, and Columbia University in New York City.
