Stephen Howard

Stephen has more than 20 years of financial market, portfolio management, quantitative analysis and risk management experience, obtained in a wide variety of team leadership and specialist roles spanning active and passive portfolio management, risk management, quantitative finance, treasury business operations and systems management, and portfolio performance determination and attribution.

Between 2010 and 2017 Stephen held the role of Head of Fixed Income - Asia Pacific with Vanguard Group. Stephen was a member of the Global Active Credit Leadership Team, the Global Bond Index Leadership Team and the Australian Investment Management Leadership Team.

Since leaving Vanguard in 2017 Stephen has been an active member of the Department since 2017. He has been involved with teaching the Master of Business (Financial Decisions and Risk Management Specialisation) and Funds Management within the Master of Advanced Finance.

Stephen is currently the General Manager - Defensive Assets at HESTA where he is responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of HESTA’s Defensive Asset Portfolio that spans the Cash, Cash Enhanced, Fixed Income and the Alternate Credit Markets.
