  • Professor Emanuele Borgonovo

    Emanuele Borgonovo is a Professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and Director of the Bachelor in Economics, Management and Computer Science at Bocconi University.

    Roberto Renò is a Professor of Finance at the Department of Economics of the University of Verona, and Director of the Master of Banking and Finance at the School of Economics and Management.

Professor Emanuele Borgonovo

Emanuele Borgonovo is a Professor in the Department of Decision Sciences at Bocconi University and Director of their Bachelor in Economics, Management and Computer Science.

He is a fellow of Bocconi Institute for Data Science and Analytics, was previously the Director of the Research Center ELEUSI (2008-2012) and holds a PhD in Probabilistic Risk Assessment from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His PhD was conducted under the supervision of Professor George Apostolakis.

He is the recipient of several national and international awards, including the 2017 Chinese Academy of Sciences President’s Visiting Professor Fellowship, the 2015 IBM Faculty Award, the honorary memberships of “Σχ, The Scientific Research Society of North America, The Honorary Society of the American Nuclear Society and the McCormack fellowship of the Westinghouse Corporation. He has also received several best paper and excellence in refereeing awards.

He is a member of the Council of the Decision Analysis Society of INFORMS, Co-chair of the Committee on Uncertainty Analysis of the European Safety and Reliability Association, Co-editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Operational Research and an advisor of Springer International Series in Management Science and Operations Research. He is also a member of the editorial boards of several international journals, including Risk Analysis, Reliability Engineering and System Safety, the Journal of Business Logistics and the Journal of Risk and Reliability. He has published more than 100 scientific articles, with works appearing in journals such as Journal of the Royal Statistical Society B, Management Science, Operations Research, Nature Climate Change, Risk Analysis, European Journal of Operational Research, Reliability Engineering & System Safety, SIAM/ASA Journal on Uncertainty Quantification and Water Resources Research.

He has worked on international research projects with institutions such as the Idaho National Laboratory, DOE, DARPA, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, MIT and Electricité de France.

His research interests include Sensitivity Analysis, Decision Analysis, Risk Analysis and Uncertainty Quantification. In his works, he has introduced several new sensitivity analysis techniques. He is author of the book, ‘Sensitivity Analysis: An Introduction for the Management Scientist’.

Roberto Renò

Roberto Renò is a Professor of Finance at the Department of Economics of the University of Verona, and Director of the Banking and Finance at the School of Economics and Management of the same University.

He holds a PhD in Mathematics from Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy.

He is a Visiting Professor at Carey Business School, Johns Hopkins University, and he was Fernand Braudel Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence.

His research focuses on finance, financial econometrics and quantitative methods for finance.
