Waste-free dining at Parkville

Join the Monash reuse revolution - Dine in or bring your own reusable container

Monash campus sustainability is pleased to announce that Parkville campus is our first waste-free dining campus. We’ve taken inspiration from cafés

around the world and developed a Monash three-step approach to minimise single-use plastic food packaging and divert food waste from landfill.

Step 1 – Dine in. The new cafés at Parkville will offer crockery and cutlery as the first option.

Step 2 – Bring your own clean container. The new cafés will accept a clean takeaway container provided by you (serving sizes remain standard to the operator )

Step 3 – All single use packaging at Parkville is compostable Biopak and we’ve introduced organic waste bins to collect all the compostable packaging and your food waste. Your organic waste is then processed into nutrient-rich compost.

Parkville campus cafés are also free from plastic straws, bags and plastic bottled waste.
