Visionary Leadership in STEM - IMNIS Victoria
Event date: 11 August 2021
The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) celebrated the launch of #IMNIS2021 (Victoria), with the Keynote delivered by Professor Joanna Batstone, Director of the Monash Data Futures Institute at Monash University and a global expert on AI, data analytics and technology. The event was organised by ATSE and the Industry Mentoring Networking in STEM (IMNIS).
Stating examples from her own career journey, and explaining what it takes to become a visionary leader, Prof Batstone acknowledged that “a career as a ‘scientist’ is actually more of a curvy one, than a straight line. As you find your feet and and move through different roles, you might follow different paths. No one is the same.”
ATSE brings together Australia’s leading experts in applied science, technology and engineering to provide impartial, practical and evidence-based advice on how to achieve sustainable solutions and advance prosperity.
IMNIS is an award-winning industry-led initiative of ATSE which connects motivated PhD students and postdoctoral fellows in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with outstanding high-level industry leaders in a one-year mentoring and professional development program.
