Monash Data Futures Institute Seed Grants for Global Challenges
The Monash Data Futures Institute is proud to announce the funding of 15 seed grant projects deploying AI and Data Science to tackle major Global Challenges. The 2021 seed grants support AI and data science investments for multidisciplinary research teams addressing globally significant problems around climate change, geopolitical security and thriving communities.
Announcing the successful projects, Monash Data Futures Institute Director, Prof Joanna Batstone, said the selection reflected breakthrough use of machine learning and data science research to deliver innovative and bold ideas that were not merely incremental in approaches to applied new science. They will lead to positive social and environmental impact while demonstrating a globally competitive context for their work.
“Congratulations to all the grant recipients - after a very competitive selection process, we are delighted to support these exciting and innovative projects”, Professor Batstone said.
