Progressive neurological dysfunction with age adversely affects the quality of life in older adults and presents serious financial challenges to public health, but the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the functional decline in the nervous system with age are yet to be fully elucidated. Because age-related motor and sensory dysfunction are prominent phenomena observed in nearly every species, these phenomena lend themselves to research of age-related progression of neurological dysfunction.
1. The molecular mechanisms of Sensory perception
2. Behavioural encoding neural circuits
3. Functional ageing in the nervous system
