Monash BDI's Dr Justin Adams has co-authored an article in The Conversation demonstrating that dingoes are distinct from other wild canids and domestic dogs, based on many different criteria. Over the years, dingoes have been called many scientific names, but these names have been applied inconsistently in both academic literature and government policy. Based on new research, the team has highlighted the ecological, anatomical, behavioural and genetic criteria that set dingoes definitively apart from domestic dogs.
