Capitalising on falling coronavirus cases
Victoria’s daily number of coronavirus cases dropped to double digits with 94 infections recorded in the past 24 hours – but what now? The BDI’s Professor Stephen Turner Head of Department of Microbiology, Co-Head Infection and Immunity Program, Co-Head Monash BDI’s COVID-19 Program, told MSN News that hopefully contact tracing could now catch up and community cases, if they arise, could be contained very quickly. Professor Turner said however that more attention in terms of infection control needed to be paid to aged care. He said even returning to the level of normality Victorians experienced after the first wave was some way away. "We've seen after the first wave and also now examples overseas, these waves can keep coming as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator," Professor Turner said.
