It takes a village: how researchers built their own microscope to decipher 'superbugs'

Co-first author Dilshan Gunasinghe and Professor Trevor Lithgow.

Monash BDI's Professor Trevor Lithgow has appeared in the media recently, discussing his team's custom-built super-microscope capable of seeing the actual building blocks of bacterial cell walls. Professor Lithgow was interviewed by SBS News, and reports of his Cell Reports paper appeared in Science Daily, BrightSurf, Phys.org and The Times of India. The super-microscope will help provide researchers with key knowledge to disarm "superbug" resistance to the immune system.
