New anti-dengue agent to treat zika virus

Dr Sundy Yang

Recently published research focused on the new zika virus treatment published in the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications has been featured in Science Trends. This study, led by Monash BDI researchers Dr Sundy Yang and Professor David Jans, established that the new anti-dengue agent 4-HPR is potently active against zika virus infection, due to the structural similarities between the two flaviviruses. This finding may lead the way to the development of new strategies to combat the Zika virus.
