Welcome to the Xiao Lab

Our laboratory aims to understand the molecular events that mediate communication among neural cells in the nervous system during development, myelination, learning and memory, degeneration, and regeneration, and to develop natural alternative solutions against antibiotic resistance for the benefit of both animals and humans.

We're part of the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, and a member of the Neuroscience, Development & Stem Cells and Immunity Programs, and the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology.

Our research

We use both in vitro and in vivo models to address the fundamental unmet basic and clinical challenges by identifying the therapeutic potential of signalling molecules to ameliorate or even ablate the detrimental consequences of neurodegenerative diseases and to develop natural alternative solutions, with an emphasis on those that target antibiotic resistance, for the benefit of both animals and humans.
