IRECE author and reviewer guidelines
Advice for submitting authors
Authors should submit two copies of the manuscript to the journal (edu-irece@monash.edu)
- Identified: with clear identification of author(s) and relevant affiliations
- De-identified: with all references to the author(s) and their affiliated institutions deleted, as well as references to other publications being cited that could potentially identify authorship to a reviewer.
Accepted papers become the copyright of the Journal, unless otherwise specifically agreed - see our copyright statement below.
Articles should contain no more than 8,000 words and should adhere strictly to the house style guide provided below. Manuscripts that do not conform to these requirements will not be considered for publication.
Contributors should bear in mind that they are addressing an international audience.
Contributors should confirm that their manuscript has not been submitted for publication elsewhere in a covering message accompanying their electronic submission.
Note: Submitted manuscripts are first sent to an in-house Language Check Editor to assess the readability of the manuscript. Further revision may be required before it is sent for peer review.
Manuscripts in languages other than English
Authors seeking to publish in a language other than English should first contact the journal at edu-irece@monash.edu and enclose a 300 word abstract in English in the body of the email message. Please also advise whether you are affiliated with a particular academic institution, the language in which you are seeking to publish, and whether this is the first time you have submitted in an English language publication. You will be advised as soon as possible about the arrangements we are able to make with respect to your manuscript.
What to provide with your submission
Ethics Declaration - Advice
The IRECE journal may require, for studies involving human participants, documentary evidence that the study has been approved by a university ethics committee or equivalent body IF the study takes place in a country and/or institution that requires ethical approval for the publication of such studies.
IRECE requires that the researchers should produce a statement declaring any interest or payment obtained in the commissioning of the research; whether the research was funded by a body for which there were financial or ethical considerations or benefits to be gained from the outcomes of the study; and declaring any conflict of interest that might be reasonably perceived and attributed to the author(s) with respect to the content of the study and the report being submitted for consideration by IRECE.
This material must be supplied before the manuscript can be reviewed. Once a review process is complete, the author(s) must additionally supply a signed version of the copyright license form (docx).
When submitting in the first instance, please submit two versions of your manuscript - one identifying the author, and one de-identified.
Identified manuscript
The identifying manuscript should contain:
- the title of the manuscript/contribution,
- authors name(s) and their academic affiliations,
- an abstract of 150-200 words,
- a list of 6 keywords,
- short biographical statement for each author, including an email, to appear at the end of the manuscript.
De-identified manuscript
To de-identify your second manuscript please remove:
- authors name(s) and their academic affiliations,
- biographical statement for each author
- any other details identifying you as the author, including references where necessary.

Referencing
IRECE recommends that when in doubt, submitting authors should refer to the style guide of the American Psychological Association. Authors using footnotes are encouraged to convert these to endnotes in addition to providing the APA references. Examples of referencing conventions are provided below for easy access. Please see the Guidelines for submission document for the detailed information.

Tables and captions to illustrations
Each manuscript file should contain all diagrams and illustrations that the author intends to include as part of the article. All tables and illustrations should be captioned appropriately, and numbered using Arabic numerals. Captions should include keys to symbols.
Electronic format
We encourage submitting authors to ensure the final version of the manuscript is sent electronically in an attachment to an email and saved as a Word document. IRECE is only published in electronic form, and is open access, so publication of a submitted manuscript will be accompanied by a PDF file of the issue of the journal in which their article has been included, sent to the author by email, as well as a PDF file of the article itself.
Copyright for IRECE Journal
It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Monash University as the copyright owner of the IRECE journal. Authors retain specific rights under the terms of the licensing agreement.
Guidelines for reviewers
In the documents below, reviewers will find instructions and guidelines for completing their review. The documents also contain information about the process of the review as well as the responsibilities of the reviewers.
