Associate Professor Mikkel Bille
Associate Professor Mikkel Bille, Roskilde University is a social anthropologist who focuses broadly on the role of material culture in people’s everyday lives. He has covered themes from cultural heritage, Islamic material culture, burial practices, and architecture. He has a long interest in exploring how something as intangible as light and luminosity is used to make sense of our surrounding in diverse cultural ways. He is currently leading a project on Nordic Lighting that investigates how new technologies have been implemented in Scandinavia to stage urban spaces and shape the feelings of the city.
Mikkel joins the Emerging Technologies Research Lab in December to give a talk 'Living in a lit world' at MPavilion on Monday 16 December, 1-2pm. During his stay he will work alongside Sarah Pink and Shanti Sumartojo.
