Monash Engineering has established diverse international relationships with Chinese universities and has strong industry linkages with world-renowned organisations. The China Linkage Engineering Programs, available at both undergraduate and  postgraduate levels, provide unique opportunities for students to combine their study with valuable international experience.

Monash Engineering is a key partner of the newly established Baosteel-Australia Joint Research and Development Centre that aims to conduct research and provide innovative technologies in areas relevant to the steel industry. The Monash-led Australia-China Research Centre for Light Metals(ACCLiM) is another significant Australia-China collaboration in the high-end aerospace and advanced manufacturing research.

Since 2005, Monash Engineering and its partner universities have been successfully running a Tri-University Research Workshop on Advanced Engineering. In 2012, the Faculty launched a new initiative to offer opportunities for high achieving Chinese students to undertake an undergraduate scholarship program at Monash.

China Linkage Engineering Program

The China Linkage Engineering Programs are offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The 2+2 Bachelor of Engineering course allows students to receive both the partnering Chinese university and Monash University Bachelor of Engineering degrees upon successful completion of the program. A Joint Award PhD program offers students an opportunity to broaden their learning and research experience in an overseas environment and builds closer co-operation between Monash and the partner university.

  • Central South University (CSU)

Monash and CSU offer 2+2 linkage programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Research scholarships are available to high quality CSU students to study a PhD or master by research degree at Monash Engineering.
  • Southeast University (SEU)

The SEU-Monash international collaboration consists of the Joint Graduate School and Joint Research Institute that plan to offer master’s by coursework or PhD programs in various disciplines, such as Engineering and Science. Students will graduate with both a SEU and Monash degree.
  • Wuhan University of Technology (WUT)

The Monash-WUT 2+2 programs are available in Materials Engineering and Electrical & Computer Systems Engineering.
  • Tongji University (TJU)

Monash and Tongji collaborate in 2+2 programs in the field of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering.
  • Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU)

Monash has a 2+2 program in Mechanical-Aerospace Engineering, which Mechanical Engineering students study for the first two years at SJTU, then transfer to Monash for the third and fourth year of study. Both institutions have also established a Joint award PhD program in Material Engineering.
  • Fudan University (FDU)

Monash and Fudan have established a Joint Award PhD program in chemical engineering. The program offers students an opportunity to broaden their learning and research experience in an overseas environment and builds closer co-operation between the two institutions.
  • Sichuan University (SCU)

The Monash-SCU 2+2 programs are available in Chemical Engineering and Electrical & Computer Systems Engineering.
