A career built in top-level management
Over the past 30 years, Charles Lee (BCivEng 1982) has created an executive career in Singapore’s geotechnical industry. First he served as General Manager of Econ Piling, a general contractor for heavy foundation projects. Then in 1997, along with three partners, he established Improtech, a specialist soft soil improvement contractor, where he’s now Managing Director.
“I’m responsible for sourcing new business and technology for the IMIQ Group, Improtech’s parent company,” says Charles. “By introducing a unique management style to serve our clients, I’ve helped to expand the company twentyfold. We now have offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea and Thailand, with our headquarters in Singapore.”
Charles has also dedicated himself to Monash University Alumni Singapore, serving as President for two years. Additionally, he has taken on the role of Chairman for Sponsorship for one of the Australian Universities Alumni International Conventions.
How does Charles relax? He hikes and fishes. He has even set up a fishing charter business in Malaysia catering to Australians. A great way to get away from the office and wind down!
