Industry Director, Building Structures Practice Lead at AECOM Australia Pty Ltd - Marc Colella graduated from Monash in 1995 with a Bachelor of Engineering. He has worked in Melbourne, London and New York on a range of high profile building projects including the new One World Trade Center building, which was built on the site of the World Trade Center complex after the attacks of September 11, 2001.
Marc is currently the director in charge of the Building Structures group at Arup in Melbourne. He is also the Building Structures Practice Lead for Arup in Australia and New Zealand. He specialises in innovative structural designs for major building developments, including super tall towers, institutional buildings, sports facilities and speciality structures.
Marc’s particular expertise is high rise residential, commercial and mixed-use towers, and possesses an unprecedented portfolio of completed projects both locally and internationally on some of the world’s tallest towers. He maintains a hands-on approach and works collaboratively with large developers and internationally renowned design architects. He is recognised for technologically advanced analysis techniques developed in the USA, and the implementation of highly efficient structural designs. He also possesses wide ranging experience in wind and seismic engineering design, as well as vibration control design issues and structural dynamics.
Throughout his career, Marc has been responsible for all aspects of the structural engineering profession on world-class prestigious projects, within dynamic design teams and passionate environments.
