Graduate Research International Travel Award (GRITA)
The Faculty of Engineering Graduate Research International Travel Award (GRITA) funds international travel for Engineering Graduate Research students to carry out research related work in esteemed universities or institutions. The award will fund travel for between 3 – 6 months up to the value of $10, 000. The award aims to support joint publications with the visited institute and enhance the profile of the Faculty internationally.
The institution hosting the student must be in the top 50 Engineering faculties from one of the following world ranking lists:
- Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)
- Times Higher Education World University (THE)
- US News Best Global Universities
If the host institution or organisation does not meet this requirements, then a case must be made to prove the international standing of this research group in the relevant field.
Upon return a report from recipients is required including published work and/or draft publications.

To be eligible for the GRITA you must be a Graduate Research student enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering at the Clayton Campus. Applicants must have successfully passed their confirmation of candidature in a timely manner and any coursework requirements.
There are 2 rounds of the GRITA each year. In 2018 the closing dates for these will be:
Round 1 – 28 February 2018
Round 2 – 15 August 2018
Make sure to begin the application with plenty of time before the round closes. Applying can be quite a lengthy process due to documentation required in the application.
All applicants must complete an application form and submit this to the Faculty of Engineering Graduate Research office before the deadline. Any supporting information should be attached to the application and be submitted as one document.
