Graduate Research International Travel Award (GRITA)

The Faculty of Engineering Graduate Research International Travel Award (GRITA) funds international travel for Engineering Graduate Research students to carry out research related work in esteemed universities or institutions. The award will fund travel for between 3 – 6 months up to the value of $10,000. The award aims to support joint publications with the visited institute and enhance the profile of the Faculty internationally.

The institution hosting the student must be in the top 50 Engineering faculties from one of the following world ranking lists:

If the host institution or organisation does not meet this requirements, then a case must be made to prove the international standing of this research group in the relevant field.

Upon return a report from recipients is required including published work and/or draft publications.

To be eligible for the GRITA you must be a Graduate Research student enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering at the Clayton Campus. Applicants must have successfully passed their confirmation of candidature in a timely manner and any coursework requirements.


In line with the University's decision to cancel overseas mobility programs for the remainder of the year, the Faculty will not be awarding the Graduate Research International Travel Award (GRITA) in 2020.


All applicants must complete an application form and submit this to the Faculty of Engineering Graduate Research office before the deadline. Any supporting information should be attached to the application and be submitted as one document.

Report Form

All students who receive the GRITA are expected to submit a copy of the report form (DOCX, 0.03 MB) to the Faculty of Engineering within 3 months of returning from their study away.
