Every year, we celebrate the success of our high-achieving and top performing students - from our undergraduates right through to our PhD research students - with our Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Awards Night.

JW Dodds Prize
Awarded to Christien Blencowe
A prize and medal awarded annually to the most outstanding student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering completing final year of the Mechanical Engineering course.
Bill Melbourne Medal
Awarded to Leon Clark [Pose measurement and control response characterisation of flexure-based mechanisms for micro/nano positioning]
A prize and medal awarded annually to a student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering who has obtained a PhD degree on the basis of quality and number of research publications, quality and originality of research.
T.F. Berreen Prize for Excellence in Dynamics Dynamical Systems
Awarded to Chiew Peng Luk
Awarded to the Mechanical Engineering student who completes the unit MEC3453 Dynamics 2 with the highest result
I.H. Marshall Prize for Excellence in Engineering Solid Mechanics Aircraft Structures II
Awarded to Stephen Terrington
Awarded to the Aerospace Engineering student who completes the units MAE3407 Aircraft Structures 2 with the highest result.
R. Gani Prize for Excellence in Engineering Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer
Awarded to Sean Lawrence
Awarded to the Mechatronics Engineering student who completes the unit TRC3802 Thermo-fluids and power systems with the highest result.
Top Student for Dept M+AE (Best HWA Mech Degree) + IMechE Frederic Barnes Waldron (FBW) Best Student - Mechanical
Awarded to Jake Hinton
Awarded to the student with the highest overall HWA completing final year in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Excellence in Engineering Design(TRC3000 Mechatronics Project II)
Awarded to Awarded to Matthew Guerra, Roby Santoro, and Andre Soriano
Awarded to the team of Mechanical Engineering students who complete the unit TRC3000 Mechatronics Project 2 with the highest in-semester team-based results.
