New opportunities to internationalise an academic career in transport

If you are interested in taking your academic career in transport to the next level then there are exciting opportunities to join the team at the Monash Institute of Transport Studies (Monash ITS) as it looks for new team members to support its international activities.  In addition to staff based at the Monash campus in Melbourne, Monash ITS also has staff based at the Monash Malaysia campus in Kuala Lumpur and at the Monash-SEU Joint Graduate School in Suzhou, China (the first graduate school of its type operated by an international university in China). Extensive collaboration between staff at the different nodes provides excellent opportunities to be involved in international research and education initiatives in transport. In the recently released World University Rankings Monash ITS was ranked 13th in the world in the field of Transportation Science and Technology.

There are two opportunities available, one for an academic staff member to join the Monash-SEU Joint Graduate School in Suzhou and the other to join the staff at Monash Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.

Lecturer in Transport (Suzhou and Melbourne)

The individual appointed to this position will teach postgraduate units in transportation systems engineering as part of the Masters of Transportation Systems offered in conjunction with South East University at the Suzhou campus in China. The appointee will spend approximately six months of the year in China and undertake research activity aligned with one of the Institute of Transport Studies existing research strengths. Research conducted at Monash ITS contributes to the development of safe, efficient and sustainable multimodal transport systems. The research activities are focused on four program areas (Active Transport; Advanced Technology and Future Transport; Intelligent Transport Systems and Public Transport) and includes consideration of demand, supply and policy dimensions in those areas.

Details of this opportunity are available from:

Transport Academic (Kuala Lumpur)

Monash Malaysia is seeking suitably qualified staff to join the civil engineering team and contribute to transport education and research. A key component of this role is working closely with the Melbourne based team members to teach undergraduate units in transport which are offered simultaneously on both campuses. There are also excellent opportunities to grow research activities in Malaysia and work collaboratively with the other members of the team based on Melbourne and Suzhou.
