Professor Hai Vu Wins 2019 ITS Australia National Research Award
Monash University has won the 2019 Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) National Research Award for its project ‘VRAV: Augmented On-Road Driving Simulator’.
Professor Hai Vu from the Monash Institute of Transport Studies leads the project and is collaborating with the Faculties of Engineering, Information Technology, Monash Accident Research Centre (MUARC) and Monash Art Design & Architecture (MADA).
The team has developed a Virtual Reality Autonomous Vehicle (VRAV) that enables on-road testing of autonomous vehicles, offering a potential means to test drivers’ responses to unsafe driving conditions.
The project is part of the Monash Infrastructure (MI) Interdisciplinary Research Seed Funding program.
ITS is the peak body for advanced transport technology in Australia and held its 2019 Awards Presentation Night Dinner on 21 November in Adelaide.
