Marcela completed her Bachelor of Environmental Engineer at Federal University of Paraiba, Brazil. Through this period, she had the opportunity to pursue undergrad research through Iniciação Científica (or Scientific Initiation, in English), a project at federal Brazilian universities that offers support for those who want to start pursuing the research field. Marcela also spent an year of her bachelor’s at University of Alabama at Birmingham (USA), as part of Brazil’s Government program for scholarships known as Science without Borders, which provided financial support to selected Brazilian students in international universities during 2 semester plus an internship/research time.
Before joining Monash as a PhD student, She worked in a Brazilian consulting firm focused on water resources and environmental engineering projects during one year.
