Graduate Internships - Work Integrated Learning

Work Integrated Learning

Take your skills and knowledge further

Master of Engineering students have the opportunity to complete graduate internship with one of our many partner organisations through our Work Integrated Learning program (WIL) – a placement in a professional or research setting, that counts towards your degree.

For successful students, a WIL placement provides a valuable opportunity to gain new skills and industry knowledge, build contacts and networks.

There are many personal and professional benefits of completing a WIL internship:

  • Improve your Employability

build invaluable industry experience, develop your professional skills and networks. Your WIL employer may hire you upon graduation, or provide references, connections and guidance to help with career development.

  • Make a difference

organisations value the skills and new thinking that Engineering students bring to the workplace. You can make a big impact by providing operational support, complex problem solving skills and working on key projects.

  • Improve your study

completing an internship can put the knowledge you're gaining into a professional context and can give greater depth of understanding to your discipline area and consolidate your learning.

  • Get academic credit

completion of WIL(ENG5008) will be recorded on your academic transcript and you will obtain credit towards completion of your course.

Throughout the unit you’ll be supported with supervision in the field by your host organisation, and continuing academic supervision from your course supervisor.

My Work Integrated Learning internship with Navi has been the highlight of my Master’s degree so far. I’m really proud that I’m working on a product that will make a difference to sick babies, their families and the healthcare teams providing their care.”
