Dr. Sheila Devasahayam

I have academic/ research background in metallurgy and materials science. With two PhDs, one in materials science and another in extractive and subsequent post-doctoral experience from the Universities of Wollongong, Sydney and New South Wales, I gained expertise in many aspects of industry-based materials science research including, coatings, surface modifications, polymer, plasma and radiation science, nanocomposites, super absorbents, super hydrophobic materials and energy materials, acid mine drainage, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, mineral processing and coal processing with a focus on green chemistry and engineering towards energy and emissions abatement, and water science and aquifer characterization. My inter-disciplinary, industry-focused expertise has enabled me to provide innovative sustainable solutions to many immediate industrial problems I also served in the Commonwealth Government, Australia as a scientific policy officer in the Department of Innovation.
