At Monash University we acknowledge that we are all responsible for taking actions to minimise our impact on the environment.  Our programs are as diverse as our people and everyone has the opportunity to contribute to positive change.

In 2020 Green Impact is back for the third year to engage staff and make a sustainable difference in their workplaces at Monash!

How Green Impact Works

Green Impact is a positive staff engagement program that has been developed over the last ten years, through Students Organising for Sustainability (UK). To date the program has been delivered to over 400 organisation and has reached more than one hundred thousand people, 20,000 of whom have actively taken part in the program. Green Impact is a continual improvement, collaborative and meaningful program that embeds sustainable practices and behaviours into the workplace and will help ensure Monash is achieving our Net Zero Emissions strategy.

Green Impact at Monash

The 2020 Green Impact program is a team-driven challenge for staff and students, designed to embed sustainability in the workplace.  The inaugural 2018 program saw more the 50 teams with over 200 staff, across our four main campuses and other sites take on and implement 1204 sustainability actions. In 2019 the program had continued success with over 1400 actions taken across the teams. The program for 2020 has been further updated with new actions to ensure Monash is staying ahead of the sustainability curve and leading the way in sustainability.

To join, staff are encouraged to form a team and register for the online program. The 2020 registrations are open now. For more information please visit the Green Impact website for Monash.

Each participating team will have access to their own online toolkit where all the sustainability tasks of the program will be waiting for your team to implement, achieve and record. Each criterion is a simple action you can undertake to improve sustainability in your area.

The Wellbeing and Sustainability Engagement Team will run support events, provide regular updates, and will always be available to answer any questions you have. At the end of the program each participating area will be audited to determine and recognise the most sustainable team!
