We’ve gathered a few key IT related-things you may find helpful in your first week.
Your Monash account
Contact the Service Desk to get your new Monash account and password.
This account is how you access Monash IT services, including:
- network drives
- staff online resources
If you need access to specific system accounts (e.g. Unix or web editing accounts), you can request this through Service Desk Online after your main account is set up.
Your Monash computer will be pre-loaded with our standard set of software, along with any specialised applications required by your department or faculty.

This is the hub linking you to the key systems you’ll need, like ESS (Employee Self Service) for employment and leave info, access to your email, calendar and more.
Get yourself up and running with our range of self help information. Here’s some you might find useful:
- using voicemail on a desk phone
- explore how to use Google mail and the collaboration tools
- initiating a conference call from a desk phone
- connecting to eduroam wi-fi
- get support for mobiles
Student email lists
Academic staff can request the creation of an email list of their students for a particular unit through our Service Desk (see the button at the bottom of this page).
You'll need to provide the unit codes and your staff number.
