Abbreviations in timetables

Timetables use abbreviations for unit information and class locations. Here's a guide to understanding what they mean.

Class locations

Unit information abbreviations look like this: ATS1326_CA_S2_DAY

Their four parts are:

  1. Unit code (from the Handbook)
    • Numbers starting with 1 are first year units
    • 2nd and 3rd year units start with 2 and 3
  2. Campus code
    • AL - Alfred
    • CA - Caulfield
    • CI - City
    • CL - Clayton
    • ME - Melbourne
    • PA - Parkville
    • PE - Peninsula
  3. Teaching period
    • S1 - Semester 1
    • S2 - Semester 2
    • OCT12 - October teaching period
    • FY - Full year
    • SSA - Summer Semester A
    • SSB - Summer Semester B

  4. Class type
    • BLOCK-OFF: A block of off-campus classes
    • BLOCK-ON: A block of on-campus classes
    • DAY: Day classes
    • DE: Distance education
    • DE-ONLINE: Distance education print and online delivery
    • ESP-EC:  Enhancement Studies Program - Enhancement Centre
    • EVENING: Evening class
    • EXT-CAND: External research candidature
    • FLEXIBLE: Flexible class with on and off-campus learning
    • MO: Monash Online
    • ON-CAMPUS: On campus between 8am and 9pm
    • ONLINE: Fully electronic delivery
    • ONLINE DAY: Electronic delivery for day students
    • SPLIT-ON: Split block on-campus classes
Unit information

Clayton campus

The Clayton campus unit locations list the:

  • campus code
  • street name and number
  • building name and
  • room number.

For example CL_Anc18.LTB_203. This location is Clayton campus, 19 Ancora Imparo Way, Learning and Teaching Building, Room 203. The first number in the room number is usually the floor number. For example, room 203 is on level 2, room 03. See Clayton campus map (pdf, 0.29mb).

Other Clayton abbreviated street names are:

  • All - Alliance Lane
  • Anc - Ancora Imparo Way
  • Chn - Chancellors Walk
  • Col - College Walk
  • Exh - Exhibition Walk
  • Inn - Innovation Walk
  • Rnf - Rainforest Walk
  • Res - Research Way
  • Sce - Scenic Boulevard
