Eligibility and application

Who is eligible?

You can participate in the GIG unit if you:

  • are enrolled in one of the below eligible degrees;
  • are in your first semester (commencing 2023);
  • achieve minimum 50 WAM in your first semester of study (commencing 2023);
  • complete a minimum of 12 credit points in your first semester of study (commencing 2023); and
  • are aged 18 or above at the time of departure.

1 If you intend to seek professional accreditation in Accounting or Actuarial studies, you may not be able to fit GIG into your course progression.

2 If you intend to major in Business analytics, Finance, and Mathematical foundations of econometrics, you may not be able to fit GIG into your course progression.

3 If you intend to major in Interactive media, you may not be able to fit GIG into your course progression.

4 If you intend to major in Games and apply for the Industry Based Learning program, you may not be able to fit GIG into your course progression.

5 Single degree students (all specialisations except Biomedical engineering) can use their two free electives at Level 2 to fit GIG into your course progression.

6 Students enrolling in this program will not be eligible for work placement or research in year 3.  

7 GIG does not count towards the science component of your double degree.
