Meet the Masters of Environment and Sustainability View
We’ve developed an award-winning Masters of Environment and Sustainability that will build on your passion for the environment, and teach you how to cross boundaries and develop interdisciplinary solutions to help create a more sustainable and equitable world.
In the first part of the course, you’ll gain an interdisciplinary foundation that allows you to analyse the interdependence of nature, society and the economy. You’ll then specialise in an emerging field by choosing one of five different specialisations.
You’ll apply your specialist and interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in the field through internships, industry-linked interdisciplinary or sustainability projects, or a pure research thesis.

Meet Associate Professor Rohan Clarke, Course Director and lecturer for the Master of Environment and Sustainability. Associate Professor Clarke's research interests include restoration and recovery of island biodiversity, marine vertebrate ecology and the ecology, and conservation of Australian birds.
Meet Dr Misol Kim, Course Coordinator and lecturer for the Master of Environment and Sustainability. Dr Kim is passionate about researching, developing and delivering engaging educational programs for sustainability. Dr Kim's research interest include, Instrument design and validation (including Rasch analysis), learning in environmental, sustainability and outdoor education, educational psychology and environmental psychology.

Meet Dr Shani Tobias, Program Director of the Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies. Dr Tobias's PhD investigated Japanese-English literary translation strategies focussing on how metaphorical expressions are translated. Her current research interests lie in stylistic and cultural issues in literary translation, as well as T&I pedagogy and professional development.

Matt has embarked on a varied and fulfilling career in newspaper journalism, media analysis, radio, and television, before completing a postgraduate degree in media and communications. His 30-year career has brought with him strong industry connections, a broad range of experience, and a ‘not-so-little black book’ of household names and celebrity contacts.

Meet Paul Long, Professor in Creative and Cultural Industries. Professor Long came to Media, Film and Journalism at Monash in November 2019. Prior to this appointment he worked for several years in the Birmingham School of Media at Birmingham City University where, in 2009, he co-founded the Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research.
